WHAT IS VISA?

Visa is also known as entry visa. Visa is a certification document issued by a competent authority (consulate) of a country to verify that the visa holder has the right to enter that country. Depending on whether you enter the country once or multiple times, the visa stay time will be different.

Not all countries require a Visa upon entry. Some countries have exempted entry visa policies such as Southeast Asian countries and some other special countries. Therefore, foreigners who want to enter Vietnam must have a visa and other documents according to regulations, except in cases of visa exemption.

WHAT TYPES OF VISA ARE THERE?

There are 2 main types of visas, including:

Immigrant visa is used in case of entering and settling in a country under the sponsorship of parents, children, spouses, etc.

Non-immigrant visas are used to enter a country within a permitted period of time, including the following categories: tourism, work, business, medical treatment, labor cooperation, study, foreign affairs. communication, politics,...

WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES FOR APPLYING FOR A VISA?

Each country often has different visa conditions regarding validity period and length of stay. Usually the visa is valid for multiple entries but can be revoked at any time and for any reason.

Regarding visa procedures, each country or territory will have its own regulations. You can contact the Embassy of the country of entry or visa support services to ask for detailed procedures, but most follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Determine your destination. The country you plan to visit will greatly affect your visa process. If this is your first time applying for a visa to go abroad, you should research countries with loose visa policies to make it easier to pass.
  • Step 2: Determine the purpose of the trip and prepare documents. Depending on the purpose, the consulate will ask you to add some necessary related documents. Knowing these requirements will help you prepare your application more fully and quickly.
  • Step 3: Find out where the visa is issued. Visas can be issued directly or through the countrys consulate. If there is no embassy or consulate, you must go to a third country that has these agencies to process your visa.
  • Step 4: Complete application procedures and wait for visa. To avoid paperwork problems, you should apply for a visa at least half a month in advance, do not do it too close to the date because visa delays can affect your trip.

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUDED IN A VISA APPLICATION DOCUMENT?

A visa application usually has basic requirements such as:

  • Visa application. This is a declaration expressing your desire to apply for a visa to the competent authority.
  • Passport (also known as Passport) is like your identification card when abroad. You will be required to present your passport when entering or leaving any country.
  • Personal photo. The photo helps identify the visa holder. It must be taken within the last few months, without wearing dark glasses, looking straight, without a hat, etc.

  • Documents about relatives. Provide additional information about you and family members who can contact you in case something unexpected happens.
  • Documents proving employment. The purpose of this document is to declare to the competent authority your occupation, title and working position.
  • Financial proof documents. You show the visa agency what your financial potential is. Show that you are able to pay the costs of the trip and will not hide in that country at the end of your stay.
  • Documents proving the purpose of entry. The purpose of entry is the criterion for visa classification. From there, decide on the documents mentioned above.
  • Insurance or some other documents in special cases.
